United States President Donald Trump arrived at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Italy on Friday night before Pope Francis’ funeral on Saturday (26).
The 88-year-old Pope, who had led the church since 2013, died on Monday after suffering a stroke while recovering from weeks of pneumonia.
About 250,000 people from around the world have queued to say goodbye since his body was taken to St. Peter’s Basilica on Wednesday (23) to be veiled, the Vatican said.
The Vatican said on Friday that he expects the presence of 160 foreign delegations on Saturday’s funeral, including dozens of world leaders, including Trump, and 10 monarchs.
Trump was scheduled to spend only about 15 hours in Rome, arriving late on Friday and leaving shortly after the funeral.
