Trump announces “self -support program” in an interview; understand

United States President Donald Trump said in an interview on Tuesday that he plans to launch a new program by offering money for immigrants in the country illegally to go voluntarily.

Trump said this “self -support program” would include some financial assistance and the prospect of reentry in the country legally later.

“We will give you financial help,” Trump told Fox News Rachel Campos-Duffy, according to an official interview transcription recorded on Monday (14).

“We’ll give you some money and a plane ticket, and then we’ll work with them. If they are good, if we want to come back, we’ll work with them to come back as soon as possible,” he added.

A White House spokesman said he had nothing to add to Trump’s comments.

Trump promised to deport a record number of immigrants who are illegally in the US and tested the limits of US law to increase prisons and deportations.

The Republican government has also pressured immigrants to help in their own expulsion. They are being asked to signal their “intention to leave” using a US -border customs and protection app called CBP Home.

Also during the interview with Fox News, Trump spoke about the arrest of US citizens convicted of a crime in El Salvador and about Chinese influence on the Panama channel.
