Jean Lui Geannini Pereira, a trans woman, was killed by gunshots on Avenida Raja Gabaglia, in Belo Horizonte, this Sunday (5).
According to the Military Police, “a motorcycle, with two occupants who wore balaclavas to hide their faces, chased the victim onto the avenue”.
Upon arriving at the scene, the individuals fired several firearms at Jean. The perpetrators then escaped at high speed along the road.
The woman fell to the ground, lying face down, with visible injuries to her head and torso caused by the gunshots, without the presence of vital signs.
Jean was at Bar do Gaspar, located on Rua Central, moments before the incident, where he was involved in an argument with another woman, not yet identified.
According to the agents’ report, the trans woman had thrown a stone at another person during a fight. This situation is also being investigated as a possible motive for the homicide.
“In principle, the motivation is not related to the fact that the victim is transsexual”, highlighted the PM.
The incident is ongoing with the police.
