A man lost his life and search and rescue teams are looking for nine more after the seaplane crash on Sunday at Washington, in the northwestern US. The seaplaneas reported by APE-MPE, was flying from Friday Harbor, in the San Juan Islands, on the Canadian-American border, to Seattle’s Tacoma International Airport, when it crashed near Padgett Sound, north of its destination.
Coast Guard Sector Command Center in Padgett Sound “was notified at 15:11 (local time; 01:00 today Greek time) that seaplane crashed with nine adults and one child on board” the agency said in a statement.
“One dead person was found by the teams operating on the spot. Nine people are still missing” continues the statement, which clarifies that the cause of the accident remains to be determined.
Flight Radar 24, a website specializing in flight tracking, reported that it recorded the last signal from the De Havilland Canada DHC-3 Otter, a single-engine propeller plane built 55 years ago, at 15:08 (local time), at an altitude of just 30, 5 meters.
