The Commerce Entrepreneur Confidence Index (Icec) of the Federation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of São Paulo (FecomercioSP) rose from 122.4 points in October to 125.2 points in November, the 11th consecutive increase.
The Icaec, the Icec variable that measures current conditions, advanced 2.1% at the margin, from 106.1 points to 108.3.
The Ieec, which measures expectations for the future, also rose 2.1%, from 152.9 points to 156.1. The IIEC, for investments, grew 2.8%, from 108.3 points to 111.3.
Drawing the comparison parameter with the same month of 2021, the three indices advanced by 19.7%, 5.0% and 7.2%, in that order.
The Federation assesses that, given the numbers and despite the unpredictability caused by high interest rates, growing fiscal obstacles, household indebtedness and the end of stimuli, the business community was positive in relation to the economic situation.
Icec contemplates the perception of the sector in relation to its segment, its company and the country’s economy. These are interviews conducted with a fixed panel of companies, with sampling segmented by sector (non-durable, semi-durable and durable) and by company size (up to 50 employees and more than 50 employees).
According to FecomercioSP, the grouped questions form the Icec, which, in turn, can be decomposed into other sub-indexes that assess future perspectives, the present evaluation and the strategies of businessmen in the face of the economic scenario.
The research refers to the municipality of São Paulo, however its sample base reflects the scenario of the Metropolitan Region.
