The U.S. Storm Prediction Center has issued a tornado warning for parts of the Ohio Valley as post-tropical cyclone Beryl continues to move north.
“A very moist environment and the remnants of Beryl, and its strong low-level winds, will be favorable for rotating thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes and possibly localized wind damage,” the agency said.
The alert covers southern Illinois, southern Indiana, western and central Kentucky, southwestern Ohio and central Tennessee.
Additionally, it encompasses nearly 10 million people and includes the cities of Nashville, Louisville and Cincinnati.
Destruction in Texas
Drone footage showed homes surrounded by floodwaters and a roofless residence after Beryl passed through Surfside Beach, Texas, on Monday (8).
The storm also flooded roads, closed oil ports, disrupted more than 1,300 flights and cut power to more than 2.7 million homes and businesses.
