The acting governor of the Federal District, Celina Leão (PP), met, this Thursday afternoon (31), with the executive secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Ricardo Cappelli, to discuss the security of the capital in the parade of 7 of September.
The government issued a decree, published in an extra edition of the Official Gazette of the Federal District, creating the Institutional Mobilization Office to “promote public and social order, coordinate administrative activities and monitor the events of September 7, 2023”.
The Cabinet will be made up of authorities from the Federal District and the Federal Government, and will hold its first meeting on Monday (4).
The acting governor, Celina Leão, spoke exclusively to CNN that “the work is much more preventive than any kind of real threat”. “It is a collaborative work between the government of the Federal District and the Federal Government”.
Celina assured that this is a precautionary work and to unify information. “We will have reinforced policing. Of course, this causes inconvenience. We will have a security protocol. It is good to advise people to come without sharp materials. The government has the mission to take care of the Powers, the Capital of the Republic and it will be ready for the 7th of September”.
The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, sent a letter to Governor Ibaneis Rocha (MDB) and to the Secretary of Public Security, Sandro Avelar, warning about alleged demonstrations scheduled to take place on September 7th. Dino forwarded ten videos for evaluation and preventive measures that may be necessary.
Governor Celina Leão responded to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, which demanded a demonstration and information from the State Secretariat for Public Security of the Federal District.
