The ban on mining can be introduced in the north of Karelia, in the Penza region and part of Khakassia, a source in the Ministry of Energy said. According to him, in all three regions there is a shortage of electricity. So far, the Ministry of Energy did not decide what the ban would be – full or for the period of the heating season, from November 15 to March 15.
At the end of December 2024, the government approved a list of regions and territories where mining of crypto assets will be prohibited from January 1 to March 15. The list included Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, Chechnya, as well as Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions.
In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers ordered to establish a complete ban on mining in the south of the Irkutsk region, as well as in some territories of the Republic of Buryatia and the Trans -Baikal Territory.
The head of the government of the Irkutsk region Konstantin Zaitsev said that the generation itself could lead the process of mining restrictions. By opinion An official, energy companies should provide mining capacities “not in terms of technical connection, as it is today, but in terms of providing these capacities with certain moments, so as not to stop the economy, social facilities”.
Earlier, market participants said that the ban on mining in several regions of Russia released up to 370 MW of capacity, which turned out to be unclaimed. However, the power engineers complained that the gray mining schemes and the undertaken profit of energy distribution companies call into question the effectiveness of the prohibitions.
