Three reported cases of H5N1 bird flu in humans in the US

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced Friday that authorities in the state of Colorado have reported three suspected cases of H5N1 bird flu among workers at a poultry facility. More broadly, however, according to the main US federal public health agency, “there are no signs of an unexpected increase” in influenza cases in Colorado “or other states affected by outbreaks of H5 in cows and birds”, as he emphasized in a statement he made public. All three people infected are showing mild symptoms, the CDC reassured. The workers were handling the slaughter of infected farmed birds at a facility dealing with an outbreak of H5N1, they explained.
