Thousands of citizens on the streets in Istanbul – Protesting the assassination of the leader of Hamas

Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters marched through downtown Istanbul tonight to protest the killing of the Hamas leader. Haniya was killed in Tehran, in an attack that fueled further concerns that the conflict in the Gaza Strip is turning into a wider war in the Middle East. Demonstrators held posters and photos of the political leader of Hamas while placards read “Martyr Haniya, Jerusalem is our goal and your course is our course.” They also shouted slogans such as “Kill Israel, out of Palestine” and “Thousands of greetings from Istanbul to the resistance in Gaza” while holding Turkish and Palestinian flags as they marched through the city’s Fatih district.
