Authorities have identified the dead would-be assassin of Donald Trump as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, a young man who lives about an hour away from the site of the attack. The 20-year-old who attempted to assassinate the former US president at the rally in Pennsylvania, lived in a relatively affluent suburb in the hills south of Pittsburgh, about an hour’s drive from the rally site. The neighborhood where the shooter grew up is “middle class, maybe even upper middle class,” says Dan Grzybek, a local official. The 20-year-old was registered as a supporter of the Republican party, his mother is a Democrat and his father is a Liberal, a common mix for the area.
