This Saturday, Anielle Franco visits quilombola communities on the north coast of SP

In a visit to quilombola communities on the north coast of São Paulo, affected by heavy rains last weekend, the Minister for Racial Equality, Anielle Franco, said that she will articulate with the other ministries the demands presented by quilombolas in the region.

Anielle Franco visited, this Saturday (25), four communities in the region: Caçandoca, Fazenda Caixa, Camburi and Sertão de Itamambuca. According to the Ministry of Racial Equality, among the main demands presented by the leaders, in addition to the current situation of the quilombos on the north coast, are land regularization, titling of territories and the need for infrastructure within communities, such as schools, health equipment, transport and mobility.

“We are working in an articulated manner with other ministries to ensure that all agendas involving quilombola communities and the populations served by the MIR are transversal and are present in the actions of all ministries”, said the minister.

The Vice President of the Republic and Minister of Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), also visited the areas affected by the rains in São Paulo. During the visit, Alckmin stated that the federal government is considering allocating houses built in Bertioga to house families from São Sebastião, who are homeless after the rains.

According to Alckmin, it would be an emergency measure, until the government builds the necessary housing units to accommodate residents of the city on the north coast of São Paulo who have lost their homes. “It would be for an emergency. Afterwards, of course, we will have to build the necessary housing units”, he said, at a press conference in São Sebastião.
