Thiago Brennand sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for rape

The Court of Justice of São Paulo (TJ-SP) sentenced businessman Thiago Brennand to 10 years and 6 months in prison, in a closed regime, for the crime of rape with the use of physical violence and serious threats against a woman.

This is Brennand’s fourth conviction, and his third for rape. According to the victims’ lawyers, the conviction was correct “given the gravity of the facts”, and that the victim received the news calmly.

THE CNN Brennand’s defense called the decision biased and stressed “believing that they will be able to work with greater impartiality in the Higher Courts”.

Other convictions

The businessman was sentenced to eight years in prison for rape in early 2024. In the decision made by judge Raisa Alcântara Cruvinel Schneider, of the 2nd Court of Porto Feliz, he also had to pay compensation in the amount of R$50,000 to the victim.

In October 2023, Brennand was sentenced to ten years and six months in prison for rape. In November of that same year, the businessman was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison for assaulting model Helena Gomes at a gym in São Paulo.
