And although quite often such nit-picking really takes place, in fact, the quality of Russian cinema has grown a lot lately. Some novelties can even be called competitors to Hollywood action films and foreign science fiction, and even more so in the field of historical dramas. Accordingly, to prove my point, I have collected the top ten films of the outgoing year, which will definitely bring you pleasure and will be remembered for a long time.

This is a brief and faceless description of what was filmed based on the novel of the same name by the cult Russian writer Alexei Ivanov. And believe me – after the “Heart of Parma” language will not dare to say that Russian cinema is inferior to Hollywood in terms of plot, scenery and general atmosphere in the frame.

It may sound surprising, but the film is an extremely rare representative of the comedy genre, when watching which you really want to laugh. A fairly simple plot, you can even say it is nowhere more straightforward, in fact, it turns out to be more than fascinating, funny and catchy. Here are jokes about bloggers, and jokes in the direction of modern youth, and jokes from the older generation, and a sea of references to the formula for the success of C students. Just an excellent comedy, and even with recognizable bloggers in the frame – how can you remain indifferent?

This is what the film “Mr. Knockout” was made about – it tells about the difficult story of a boxing champion from the USSR who won the Olympic Games in 1964 in Tokyo, as well as about his childhood, service, training, victories and defeats, friendship, aspirations and overcoming difficulties. We add a beautiful picture, the usual pleasant actors, and we get a chic drama that demonstrates that anyone can become a champion. The main thing is to work on yourself and not be afraid of obstacles.

An incredibly beautiful and stylishly filmed historical drama about love, which, in the spirit of Romeo and Juliet, will tell about forbidden relationships, the complexities of the political foundations of the early 19th century in Russia, and dramatic events that largely influenced the further development of history and the world. And although historians and experts quickly smashed the storyline to smithereens for avoiding realism and following the facts, we all understand that this is a feature film, not a documentary, so some inaccuracies for the sake of fascination can be forgiven. Especially when you consider that the layman knows not so many details about this stage of history as a whole.

A very entertaining and instructive film, which should be shown to every modern teenager. The director managed to convey the spirit of the time when smartphones and social networks did not yet exist, but the younger generation was no longer eager to earn a living by sweat and blood, preferring easier ways to prosper. However, with the right approach, upbringing and suitable people around, any hack-worker businessman can be made into a worthy person capable of feats, great achievements and true friendship.
Fairy tale for the old

Initially, you are biased towards films based on a gangster theme and setting – no one will shoot the second “Brigade”, and the popularization of criminality usually does not cause delight in the viewer. However, with “A Tale for the Old” everything is a little different. More precisely, everything is not at all what you expect. A very unusual presentation of the story, a stylish filter on top of the picture, surrealism and impressive frame dynamics with minimal doses of action on the screen. Perhaps not everyone will understand the film, but this is clearly the kind of picture that will be reviewed in five to ten years with the words “how cool it was filmed.”

What could be better than the iconic characters from famous fairy tales, but in a modern interpretation with 3D graphics as good as the flagship Disney projects? Surprisingly, Russian artists and screenwriters managed to create an excellent animated film for children and adults – with fresh and appropriate humor, charismatic and unusual characters, peppy musical accompaniment and a fairly worthy “alteration” of the familiar plot. Koschey looking for brides and turning them into toads, a female hero, a localized version of the Colosseum and sword fights against huge monsters – it sounds like an hour and a half of pleasure.
