In the midst of discussions at COP26 on measures that can be taken in relation to climate change, the CEO of BrasilAgro, André Guillaumon, said in an interview with CNN this Tuesday (2), that there is no way to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases without measuring them.
“We have to have methodologies to control the emission of greenhouse gases and, mainly, methane in tropical conditions. We have to stop importing ways to control in a temperate climate and control in a tropical climate. There is no way for you to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases without, in fact, having this measurement, which is already being done today. But we need to ‘tropicalize’ this measurement for Brazilian conditions”, said the CEO.
Guillaumon also said that it is also necessary to increase the efficiency of Brazilian livestock.
“Brazilian livestock, in recent years, has increased a lot. Her enjoyment rate has totally changed from what it was 20 years ago to modern livestock. The use of efficient technologies will help us measure and reduce emissions,” said Guillaumon.
