“There are indications that they did something wrong with them”, says Bolsonaro about the disappeared

The president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said, this Monday (13), that “there are indications that they did some evil” with the British journalist Dom Phillips and the Brazilian indigenist Bruno Pereira, who are missing in the amazon since the last day 5.

In an interview with Recife’s CBN radio station, the president stated that “the evidence suggests that they did something wrong with them, because human viscera have already been found floating in the river”.

According to Bolsonaro, this material was taken to Brasília for DNA tests.

“By the time we are already heading to the ninth day [de desaparecimento], it will be difficult to find them alive. I pray to God, but the evidence points to the contrary at the moment”, added the president during the interview.

The Federal Police (PF) confirmed that material found during searches this Sunday (12), belonged to the missing duo.

Bolsonaro also criticized the decision of the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Luís Roberto Barroso. Last Friday (10), the minister ordered the federal government to adopt “all necessary measures” to search for Dom and Bruno.

Barroso also ordered the government to adopt “all the necessary measures to guarantee security in the place” and to present, within five days, a report containing all the measures adopted and information obtained.

THE CNN contacted Minister Barroso, but he did not respond.

On Monday (13), the president stated that “it is unnecessary for Mr. Barroso to pretend to be the owner of the truth and give the president five days to explain or find these two who disappeared”.

“I don’t have the exact number here. But [queria] tell Mr. Barroso that tens of thousands of people disappear in Brazil each year. He only cared about these two,” Bolsonaro said.

“We – via our Ministry of Women and Human Rights – are concerned about all the disappeared in Brazil”, he concluded.
