Democratic senators introduced a bill “On a Pure Cloud” to the US Congress, which, according to the authors, should help reduce carbon emissions from mining companies and dates.

The bill is proposed by senators Sheldon Whitehaus (Sheldon Whitehouse) and John Fetterman (John Fetterman). It involves an annual decrease in the limit of permissible carbon emissions by 11% until the zero mark reaches in 2035.

The document provides for a change in the provisions of the Law “On Clean Air”, extending environmental requirements for companies with energy consumption from 100 kW. Objects that do not correspond to the limits will have to pay fines adjusted for inflation.

According to the authors of the legislative initiative, companies involved in the extraction of cryptocurrencies should be liable for environmental damage. Enterprises will oblige to report annually about the sources of energy and the volume of its consumption. The US Environmental Protection Agency, based on the data obtained, will determine the intensity of emissions and applies the sanctions to violators, the document is indicated.
