THE Alexei Navalny breathed his last in the harsh prisons of the IK-3 penal colony in Harp, known as the “Polar Wolf” prison, near the Arctic, on Friday (17.2.2024).
It was leaked from the prisons that Alexei Navalny died of sudden death syndrome and his body was taken to the local morgue.
However at last video documentary before his deathposted on social media, Navalny appears in high spirits and jokes asking federal judge to “put money in his account from his huge paycheck”.
Now his family and his team are asking for his body so that Navalny's exact cause of death can be determined and then his family can bury him.
The two scenarios for his death
Many believe that Navalny's body will never be handed over to the family, because then the real cause of his death will be revealed.
The first scenario calls for Navalny to be murdered in prison. In doing so, Putin effectively neutralized his greatest political rival, yet there are only hints and – as long as Navalny's body is not given to the family – no proof of these accusations.
The second scenario has Navalny dying of natural causes but as a result of his earlier poisoning in 2020.
Speaking to independent Russian media, the anesthesiologist who was part of the team of doctors who treated Navalny after his poisoning case, said that sudden cardiac death or “sudden death» – as he is popularly known – who claimed from the prisons that he died it could indeed be the cause of his death.
According to the anesthesiologist's assessment, the “sudden death' could be a result of the poisoning he had suffered in August 2020 with a nerve agent Navalny.
In fact, that is the doctor said he might have been saved then, but the poison continued to work in him for four years.
However, he pointed out that the clinical picture of Navalny before he died, that is, that he felt bad and then lost consciousness, is not consistent with the clinical picture presented by patients who “leave” due to sudden cardiac death.
