The TikTok dilemma: “If you were alone in the woods, would you rather meet a man or a bear?”

In English it is «Man vs bear», man against bear. This is a trend with a connected hashtag, which has become trending and viral on TikTok. It all starts from a question, online for almost a month, and from the videos with the answer given by the women. “If you were alone in the woods, would you rather meet a man or a bear?”

The response from most female audiences is that women would rather meet a bear. The video has over 2.2 million likes and more than 68 thousand comments. The interesting thing is the motivations in the answers and comments because they tell of women's fears.

“No one will ask me if I attracted the bear.”

«I would prefer it to be a bear because if the bear attacks me, and I manage to get out of the woods, everyone will believe me. But if a man attacks me and I succeed, I will spend my whole life trying to convince people to believe me.”

“I heard that bears don't attack you unless you provoke them.”

“It depends on the man, but I would probably choose the bear.”

Throughout the debate there is a comparison between men and women and many talk about how men do not understand the female position. A man writes: “I think you haven't seen enough nature documentaries.” Another user reports: “They think the bear is Paddington.”
