What better time for the return of the “Spice Girls of fashion” than in full fashion month? Those who have shaped with soul, attitude and body the meaning of the term Super Models are finally on the verge of telling all the behind-the-scenes stories of their daring lives in the much talked about, or rather, longed for, docu-series The Super Models, directed by Larissa Bills together with Roger Ross Williams and produced by Apple TV+. Ready for its debut on the streaming platform today, Wednesday 20 September.
On the other hand, we all agree that Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington do not need too many introductions, and for this very reason, we will not dwell on their triumphal rise among Peter Lindbergh, Gianni Versace, George Michael and the memorable catwalks from around the globe.
Rather, here is a little taste of Super-Goodies to calm (or tease) the wait.

Naomi Campbell, diva at social services
Naomi Campbell
Daniel SIMON/Getty Images1. If we were to imagine the first public appearance of the Black Venus, we would imagine her on the catwalk of a beauty pageant in deep England. But no, mini-Naomi’s debut is in version peace&love in the song’s video clip Is This Love of Bob Marley at the age of just eight.
2. Just a few years later, it’s even funnier to find the unattainable Queen Campbell novice on the sets of cult sitcoms such as The Robinsons and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. But perhaps comedy wasn’t his strong suit.
3. You can do without powder and lipstick. The toiletry bag in his bag there is more: sanitizing wipes, mask and gloves. Yes, because apparently she is hyperbolically germophobic, so much so that before taking a plane she disinfects everything that could come into contact with her fairy skin. You define it as a “health issue”. Of course, who can blame her.
4. 100% diva moment. In 2007 she showed up for community service in a dazzling Dolce & Gabbana Couture dress, definitely more suited to a grand gala than picking up rubbish. She was convicted by New York City for throwing the phone at her housekeeper in a fit of rage when she couldn’t find her favorite jeans.
5. She was Nelson Mandela’s best friend, even baptizing her “honorary granddaughter” by himself.

WWD/Getty Images1. Nicknamed “the chameleon” for her tendency to constantly change her hair, in 1988, on the advice of Peter Lindbergh, she adopted an androgynous, short and layered haircut. Which becomes so iconic that it now bears her name, The Linda.
2. Appears in Sex and the City in the episode Right to shoes of the sixth season, in a classy version by Manolo Blahnik.
3. In 2006 Linda became the mother of Augustin James. Initially we didn’t know who her mysterious biological father was. Of course, because the lucky guy was already happily busy. We are talking about none other than Francois-Henry Pinault, president and CEO of Kering, at the time very engaged to the actress Salma Hayek, as well as his current wife.
4. Epic aphorism all his own: “I won’t get out of bed for less than 10 thousand dollars a day.”
Cindy Crawford, aspiring scientist
Cindy Crawford
Images Press/Getty Images1 Due to her marked resemblance to the model Gia Carangi, Cindy’s nickname was “Baby Gia” at the beginning of her career.
2. Lowered into the bucolic atmosphere of Corn Belt, a photographer discovers it by chance while passing through the fields of Illinois, almost as a poetic incipit à la Bob Dylan. Meanwhile, Crawford was trimming the corn cobs.
3. Her dream as a girl was to become a doctor, scientist or teacher. In fact, despite her early work as a model, she enrolled in chemical engineering at Northwestern University. Which then she, obviously, abandons her. And fashion claimed victory.
4. In 1992, in Norway, they were forced to remove the billboards of an advertising campaign for which he was the testimonial given the exponential increase in road accidents. Too much distraction.
5. How to realize that your mother is one of the most famous faces in the world? For Cindy’s daughter Kaia Gerber (yes, being born a supermodel runs in the family) the discovery shock it happened when she was 8 years old in Disney Land: she wanted to take photos with the princesses, while the people around her with mother-queen-Cindy.
Christy Turlington, Super Zen philosopher
Christy Turlington
Victor VIRGILE/Getty Images1. She was recruited from the fashion ranks on a trot ride through Miami. A photographer is enchanted by her beauty, takes a few shots of her, and sends the images of her to a small local modeling agency. Et voilà, the jeux sont faits. Two years later the contract with the giant Ford Models arrived.
2. It seems like the music industry has always been like a siren song to Tops. Even in her case, one of the very first appearances was in a video clip, that of the song Notorious of Duran Duran.
3. For an appointment with great fanfare a Face of the 20th Century in 1993, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York even created a line of mannequins in his likeness.
4. Tired of the frenzy, in 1999 she left most of her fashion jobs to find inner peace. So she enrolled at New York University, graduating in oriental philosophy and comparative religion. And shortly afterwards she launched a line of yoga-inspired products. Simply tres radical chic.
