Israel's army chief admitted today that a “serious mistake” was made when seven workers of the non-governmental organization World Central Kitchen (WCK) were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip. “This incident was a serious mistake,” said the Chief of the National Defense General Staff, Gen. Herchi Halevi, in a taped message uploaded to X. “It was a mistake that followed faulty night reconnaissance, during wartime, in very complicated conditions . It shouldn't have been done,” added the general. “We share the grief of the families (of the victims) and the World Central Kitchen organization from the bottom of our hearts,” the general continued. “An independent organization will investigate the incident in depth and will release its findings in the coming days,” he announced.
