In the last 12 months, the Santa Catarina Civil Police (PCSC) received 47,446 complaints through the Unified Complaints System (SUD).
The SUD centralizes reports from the “Disque Denúncia” (Complaint Hotline) into a single database, where the data is processed by the public authorities.
The tool uses artificial intelligence and was developed by the PCSC Technology and Information Management (Getin). The platform is connected to the Intelligence Directorate, a cell responsible for collecting, analyzing and disseminating relevant information for the prevention and resolution of crimes.
The integration and processing of data allows reports to be quickly processed, analyzed and forwarded to the competent police units.
“From the moment a complaint is received, with the names of people and license plate numbers, we have a system in place that searches all the information in the databases, providing significant agility in the service, because it is not a person who needs to search, but artificial intelligence and systems that end up doing the research. We are attentive to Governor Jorginho Mello’s directive to provide a more efficient service to citizens, without burdening the State,” said Chief of Police Ulisses Gabriel.
Topics that caused the most complaints
Complaints of animal abuse (5,428 complaints); drug trafficking (4,259); involvement of minors in illegal acts (3,589); domestic violence (1,533); corruption (1,492) and child pornography (978) are among the most common topics of complaints in Santa Catarina.
Last year, the Disque Denúncia (181) hotline received 30,054 calls. In addition to the complaints made by phone, the form available on the website had 14,490 registrations, and WhatsApp received 2,739 messages with complaints.
The project was so successful that the Civil Police of Santa Catarina signed an agreement to provide the system to the Civil Police of Roraima.
“We also have a request for it to be used in countries outside Brazil and one of our main goals is to showcase the quality of Santa Catarina and export our technologies that are developed by the institution,” said Ulisses Gabriel.
