I remember the first “Creta”, which is still a lot on our streets, as, in general, an uncommon outwardly car. At the same time, the buyer voted perfectly with the ruble and Creta became, one might say, a people’s car. An excellent option for those who did not want Chinese, but wanted “a lot of cars for adequate money.”
The first images of the second generation Creta drove many into a stupor. So radically it differs from its predecessor in appearance. Moreover, this is the case when the car is perceived very differently in pictures and in reality.
I have an older Smart configuration on the test for almost two million rubles. What is interesting, new and, in general, about the impressions, I will tell you.

- Engine: in-line, 4 cylinders, 2 liters, 95th gasoline.
- Power: 149 hp s., 191 Nm.
- Six-speed automatic.
- All-wheel drive HTRAC.

- I drove 448 km.
Outside and inside
You have two options for impressions
Yes, as with any bold design, here you will either like it very much, or vice versa. Frankly, I had to get used to. At first glance, the appearance of the new Creta seemed too pretentious and tricky. One thing I can say for sure, she will not leave you unimpressed. By the way, soon she is promised a small face lift, I look forward to a face-to-face meeting. You can leave your opinion about the appearance under this material, judge by the photo, or by your meeting with her on the street.
I note that she, like many cars, is double-colored, the silhouette changes and becomes somewhat faster and visually reduces the car. Also, it is the top-end configurations that have a panoramic roof. Yes, the panoramic roof in the Crete, you heard right. With a hatch, of course.

The salon is also new. The screen with the “cinematic” aspect ratio immediately catches your eye. The new design of the dashboard, seats and dashboard.

Briefly about the interior equipment, keep in mind that this is a top-end configuration: two classic USB connectors in the front and one in the back, two cigarette lighter connectors (in the front and in the trunk), wireless charging (Qi standard), cameras around the perimeter (there is an option “top view »), Non-adaptive cruise control and one-zone climate control, it is also possible to control the car through the Bluelink app. From all this, you can notice a slightly strange balance, there are many cameras, but there is no adaptive cruise, a panoramic roof and heated four seats, but there are not so many connectors for charging gadgets and there are no air ducts in the back.

Pleased with the layout of the door cards, as many as two bottles of water fit into the front ones, each in its own groove. I cannot but praise the landing, especially the driver. There is also electronic adjustment (the keys are unusually large), albeit without position memory. The steering wheel is sporty, the ergonomics are excellent, there are multimedia controls and cruise control, and there is a customizable key (with an asterisk). For example, you can hang up the inclusion of CarPlay or Android Auto on it.

The tidy is combined, the tachometer and the oil temperature and fuel level readings are physical, but the speedometer is digital, it also contains various information about consumption, tire pressure, and so on. Everything is controlled from the steering wheel. Interestingly, when you turn on the turn signal, a side camera with a backward view is displayed inside the speedometer.

Pleased with the new multimedia. The screen is of excellent resolution and rich colors, just over 10 inches. I can’t say that its interface looks very modern (in contrast to the exterior), but it’s more of a nitpick. Inside is full of settings, including point-by-point tips, and it also has the ability to play background sound, such as a fireplace or a tropical rainstorm. And you are sitting in a traffic jam, snow is falling on the street, and you have the sounds of a crackling tree … also from the video. How do you like this feature? More from the non-trivial – anti-radar and voice memos.

There is nothing special to entertain yourself in the second row. Unless you can admire the sky through the roof (sorry, out of season during the test) and drink coffee, putting a glass in the reclining center armrest. There is no access to the trunk from the passenger compartment. Creta is not seen in particular cramped conditions.

Bose speakers are available in the Smart version. There are 8 speakers on board (one of them is in the trunk). Here you need to be aware that this is not a premium car, but the acoustics sound decent, given that you will still hear noises from the street. By default, the sound lacks midrange, but if you play around with the equalizer, you can adjust the sound to sound more “tasty” for you.

About the trunk. I can’t really praise it for its volume – 433 liters. But on the other hand, there is a full-fledged wheel under the floor, not a stowaway. There is a cigarette lighter socket, but there is no abundance of organizers and hooks. There is something to spy on competitors. Well, the main question: why is the trunk clapping so loudly (you can hear it perfectly in the video review)?

What is the bottom line for your impressions of the new Creta in statics? A mix of cool options: perimeter cameras, a panoramic roof, two large displays, heated steering wheel and windshield seats, as well as controversial points in the form of a small number of USB ports, a single-zone climate and non-adaptive cruise control. I also note a very large number of glossy surfaces. Everything is in its own style, it works (except for the stove), but the design, as well as externally, will either work or not.

I will separately praise the application. Everything is beautiful, understandable and perfectly localized into Russian. Three years of network services of the car itself are presented with the purchase of a car. I will not describe the instructions for the Bluelink application, all the functionality is clearly visible in the screenshots.

Let’s hit the road
Rides better than its predecessor
The old “Creta” had a very soft suspension and loved to swing after speed bumps. In the new one, things are different, the suspension is stiffer, more clearly conveys information about what is happening and generally gives confidence. Although there will be those who will miss the swagger of the previous version.

But the steering wheel has changed slightly, it is empty and light. Like the previous model, this one is not about driving pleasure. But at the same time, the car does not create any tension, even for a beginner. Sport mode does not change the alignment much. The same can be said about the gas pedal. Moreover, with a slight pressure, it allows you to accelerate very gently, but if you push it, at some point the turbine seems to spin up and the car accelerates. Although there is no turbine here.
I do not think that buyers of such an urban crossover are very much chasing steering and special impressions. Creta allows you to feel confident in the city and on the track, without flirting with sportiness and thrills. You can safely leave it in Eco-mode.

Well, about the engine. Despite the seemingly large volume of 2 liters by today’s standards, it is atmospheric and only allows you not to feel restrained in the flow. Especially if you are not traveling alone, but also with a load. As I said, when you press the gas pedal lightly, the reaction is very imperceptible. To dash for overtaking, you need to get used to the operation of the engine and gearbox. All this is accompanied by a howl from under the hood. By the way, in the most basic version of the new model you will find a 1.6-liter engine and a mechanic.

Review
Strong renewal inside and out, but it is almost the same in motion
Older configurations delight with the equipment and, in general, with the way the car feels inside. As if this is no longer the initial crossover in the lineup. Moreover, the car begins to delight by pressing the start button – it greets with nice graphics and animation. At first, you can even get lost in the settings of the cool multimedia screen, but everything is logical and easy to get used to. Well, I won’t even talk about the panoramic roof and cameras around the perimeter, it’s solid.
But where, where is the adaptive cruise and opening the trunk at least with a key? Looking forward to further updates?

On the road, four-wheel drive, especially in winter, instills more confidence on the road. It is also added by various assistance systems, including reversing out of the parking lot. But the chassis, like the steering, are still as neutral as possible, except that the suspension has become stiffer. So if you are looking for a thrill, then pass by.
This is not the most commonplace and daring car that Hyundai has.

Pros:
- bold appearance;
- excellent multimedia screen for top-end configurations;
- standard navigation shows traffic jams;
- general comfort inside.
Minuses:
- a small trunk with a manual way of opening the door;
- there is no adaptive cruise control even in the top-end configuration;
- the engine whines when accelerating.
May not like:
- exterior and interior style;
- the gas pedal, which requires getting used to;
- no difference between Eco, Normal and Sport modes.
