There Rome Film Festival (18-29 October) comes of age and dedicates the 18th edition to Giuliano Montaldo, the gentleman director who has just left us. An edition full of films, especially Italian ones, and first times behind the camera. Like that of Paola Cortellesi which inaugurates the event directed by Paola Malanga with the first work There’s still tomorrow (a sort of spur for cinema). There are also Kasia Smutniak And Margherita Buy who made their directorial debut with the documentary Mur and the movie Fly. Giovanna Mezzogiorno directs the short Unfitting with Fabio Volo And Amber Angioliniwhile Michele Riondino signs LAF building. A damn wolf is needed.
There are eighteen films in competition in which three Italian titles will participate: that of Paola Cortellesi, Holiday by Edoardo Gabriellini e My hair hurts by Roberta Torre with Alba Rohrwacher as a woman who looks a lot like Monica Vitti. They will have to deal with, among others, Sweet Sue by Leo Leigh (Mike’s son), Cams a fils with Vincent Lindon And A Love by Isabel Coixet.
Because of the Hollywood actors’ strike they won’t walk the red carpet at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome mainstream star. On the other hand, there will be many names from our cinema and serials. Right from the world of TV, fans can’t wait to enjoy the first episodes of Sea outside 4., the spin-off of SuburrAEterna (from November on Netflix), the wait The Lions of Sicily with Miriam Leone (from October on Disney+) and History by Francesca Archibugi, based on the novel by Elsa Morante. For the more nostalgic there will be the restored version of The Camorrathe series never released on TV by Giuseppe Tornatore.
From the world of cinema, however, everyone is waiting for the cast of Diabolik who are you? last chapter of the trilogy signed by dei Manetti Bros on the prince of terror, with Monica Bellucci. Antonio Albanese will present his One Hundred SundaysFerzan Ozpetek New Olympus, Geneva Elkan I told you with Valeria Bruni TedeschiWhile Christian De Sica is the protagonist of Winter lemons. The star of this edition is Isabella Rossellini who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Also watch out for Stingwhich should accompany the documentary on Sugar. The most anticipated film? The boy and the heronthe latest film by Hayao Miyazakialready a triumph in Japan.
