Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson are two of the great action stars of our time and share a long history. They worked together for many years on the very successful franchise Fast and furious, but “The Rock” left the saga in 2019, after eight years of being part of it playing agent Hobbs.
The franchise is about to come to an end with Fast and furious 10, which promises to be the most spectacular installment to date, and Vin Diesel, who is the face of the tapes, wants the family to come together for one last shoot.
What did Vin Diesel do?
We have to go back to the beginning of November 2021, when Vin published a photo on Instagram with a quite interesting caption, in which certain details of the personal lives of the actors came to light.
My little brother Dwayne… the time has come. The world awaits the end of ‘Fast & Furious’. As you know, my kids refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There isn’t a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send each other good wishes… but the time has come. The legacy awaits.
“Do not leave the franchise”
But this was not all … the message continued and Vin mentioned Paul Walker, who died in 2013. In this last part, the actor made a call to Dwayne and stated that he must return to the last film of the franchise so that he “complies with your destiny”.
I told you years ago that I was going to keep my promise to Pablo (Paul Walker). I vowed that we would reach out and manifest the best for last. I say it for love … but you must appear, do not leave the franchise, you have a very important role to play. Hobbs cannot be played by anyone else. I hope you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny.
The response of “The Rock”
Weeks passed and “The Rock” gave no signs of any kind, so the world assumed that the matter had remained there and that there would be no answer. But that has already changed, as the actor finally spoke and did so publicly in an interview with CNN and let us tell you that he is not at all happy with how Vin acted. The first thing he did was make it very clear that he will not return to the franchise and that while he will always support the films, there is nothing for him in them anymore. In fact, he says he was quite surprised to see that photo on Instagram, as he and Vin had already raised the subject in private.
Last June, when Vin and I hooked up outside of social media, I told him directly and privately that I would not be returning to the franchise. I was firm but cordial with my words and said that I would always support the cast and always encourage the success of the franchise, but that there was no chance that he would return.

However, the actor’s annoyance was evident in the second part of his answer, as it did not seem correct that Vin mentioned his children and Paul’s death. Also, it seemed like a very manipulative tactic.
I didn’t like that he brought up his kids in the post, as well as the death of Paul Walker. Leave them out of this. We had talked about this for months and came to a clear agreement. My goal at all times was to end my incredible journey with this incredible franchise with gratitude and grace.
Even so, “The Rock” ended his statement by assuring that he trusts that the team of Fast and furious will give a worthy end to the franchise, which surely will not disappoint fans, and wishes his old colleagues good luck and success.
A rivalry of years
It is not the first time that the enmity between the actors is evident. In 2016, “La Roca” uploaded a photo to Instagram to celebrate the end of the filming of the eighth film in the saga, but the caption It was quite controversial and left us speechless due to the evidence of problems on set.
