Pope Francis, the Pontiff who marked the Catholic Church with his modesty and humanity, passed to eternity. He chose to be buried not in the Vatican, as is customary, but in his beloved Church, the Basilica of Santa Maria Matzore in Rome. Faithful to the simple lifestyle that followed from the beginning of his career, Pope Francis had requested not to cover his burial in the basilica. The ceremony was simple, far from the spotlight, just as it wished. His tombstone bears only one name: “Franciscan”.
