The actress Jenna Fischer most popular for the role of Pam in the series “The Office” opened up this Monday (21) about experiencing hair loss due to cancer.
Participating in the Today program, Jenna Fischer said that she never shaved her hair completely, even though she lost most of her hair. “When they told me I needed to have chemotherapy, the first thing I thought was, ‘I don’t want to throw up and I don’t want to lose my hair.’,” she said.
“I didn’t throw up, but I lost my hair,” the actress continued. “And that’s all we women talk about. How many times have I Googled hair and pictures of hair and, ‘How will it look?’ It’s funny. The way I lost it, it’s not uniform.”
Jenna then detailed the process. Despite having only revealed the diagnosis to the public in October of this year, she had already known about it since December 2023.
“I started out with just a big bald area on this side of my head. And I kind of had a very elaborate hairstyle,” he said. “I always had a little hair in the back. And since I was trying to stay undercover, those little bits of flyaway hair kind of helped with the hair illusion. I kind of (looked like) Friar Tuck, nothing up top and just a little bit here.”
The actress shared her fight against the disease for the first time on her Instagram profile. “I never imagined I would make an announcement like this, but here I am. Last December, I was diagnosed with stage 1 triple positive breast cancer . After undergoing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, Now I’m free from the disease .”
In a more detailed statement, the actress shared her reasons for revealing her health story. “First, I’m ready to get rid of the wigs,” she said. “Second, I want to highlight the importance of making annual exams of mammography.”
After treatment, the actress reported that her doctor declared her free of the disease.
