Firefighters continue to search for a missing person in Mendes.
Deaths
In Japeri, in Baixada Fluminense, a child died after a house collapsed. The property was hit by a landslide and was destroyed.
In Barra do Piraí, in the south of the state, a slope gave way and hit a three-story house. Four people died.
In Nova Iguaçu, two men died as a result of the storms. One in the Ipiranga neighborhood, another in Jardim Pernambuco.
Young man saves
The young man who saved a mother and two children from a flood, in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, did not usually make the journey that culminated in the rescue on Wednesday night (21), in Nova Iguaçu, in Baixada Fluminense.
According to Marcos Vinicius, 20 years old, the bus he was on changed route due to flooding and the change in route meant that his and the victims' destinations crossed.
