The new 18km submarine tunnel that breaks records

A new record -breaking tunnel is built under the Baltic Sea connecting Denmark and Germany and significantly reducing the duration of trips between Scandinavia and the rest of Europe. The project is one of the most important achievements of architecture in recent years. A 18km -long colossal project, Fehmarnbelt will be the largest prefabricated road and rail tunnel in the world. It is also a remarkable engineering project, where parts of the tunnel are placed on the bottom of the sea and then joined together. The main construction site of the project is located at the northern entrance of the tunnel, on the coast of Lolland island in southeast of Denmark.
