The NASCAR driver used a technique from the game to overtake rivals and reach the final

Last weekend, the finalists of NASCAR of the current season were determined. Fans must have been pleased with the spectacle, because the race turned out to be unpredictable. Despite the victory of Christopher Bell (Christopher Bell) in the penultimate stage of the 2022 season, the main character was Ross Chastain, who at the last moment decided to make a maneuver from a computer game. This allowed him to reach the final.

Chastain used a classic move from the game. He drove into the barrier at full speed and, due to inertia, slipped along the wall, overtaking five rivals at once, including his main opponent on points. Not only did this feat secure Chastain’s (Trackhouse Racing) team’s first NASCAR Finals appearance, but it set the lap record in the history of Martinsville Speedway, where the race took place.

In an interview after the race, Ross Chastain said that he played NASCAR 2005 as a child and did so many times. But he did not even suspect that the maneuver from the game could work in real life.

“I made a choice, put in fifth gear, pressed myself against the wall and actually let go of the steering wheel. After that, I could only hope that the car did not fly out before the finish line, ”said Ross Chastain.

This is not the only example of using video game techniques in the real world. Many NASCAR drivers hone their skills with iRacing racing simulator. By the way, the champion of last season Kyle Larson (Kyle Larson) tried to crank out a similar feint in one of the races, but he failed. He called the actions of his colleague “an inappropriate trick.”
