The mysterious Daria Trepova: What we know about the suspect arrested in the murder of Russian blogger Tatarsky

THE murder of Russian blogger Vladlen Tatarsky while receiving a statuette during his speech delivered in a cafe, he shocked those present and everyone who watched the videos. Russian authorities have already arrested the first suspect in Tatarsky’s murder, Ms Darya Trepova.

The name of the 26-year-old Trepova had previously concerned the authorities, as her political beliefs are contrary to the practices of the Russian president, Vladimir Putinand the war in Ukraine.

Regarding what has become known about the life of Darya Trepova, an acquaintance of hers stated in BBC that he went to school in the city Pushkin outside St. Petersburg, adding that “back then, it didn’t seem like he was involved in politics.” Other sources say that she later enrolled at St. Petersburg State University, although it is not clear which school, and may not have completed her studies.

According to another friend of hers, she used to work for a long time at a vintage clothing store in the city, but quit her job a month ago to move to Moscow.

Information states that Darya is married to Dmitry Rylov. Friends of Trepova have stated in an interview that it was a joke and that in reality they are just friends.

Some reports say that the two of them were arrested in anti-war rally on February 24 of last year, at the start of it invasion of Ukraine. Ms. Trepova was held for 10 days, apparently for ignoring police requests to disperse the crowd.

The role of her husband, Mr. Rylov

Mr Rylov is said to be a member of a small fringe group of the opposition called the Freedom Party, which participated in the demonstrations. The party said Mr Rylov had emigrated. Other reports say that and Mr. Rylov is wanted in connection with the murder.

Mr. Rylov stated that Trepova could not have committed murder of her own free will. “I believe my wife was cheated on“, he stated. “Yes, it is true that none of us supports the war in Ukraine, but we believe that such actions are impermissible. I am 100% sure that would not agree never in such a thing if he knew it.’

Reports say Russian investigators have not ruled out the possibility Mrs. Trepova did not know what the statuette contained. Also, Russian media reported that the young woman was in correspondence with Tatarsky – the victim of the cafe explosion – and had attended previous events in which he had participated.
