For Paco Rabanne, the future has never been too far away. His debut took place in 1966 with the manifesto collection «12 non-wearable dresses in contemporary materials», made with aluminum plates joined by metal rings, futuristic and surprisingly sensual, then worn by Audrey Hepburn in Cinderella in Paris of 1966 and by Jane Fonda in Barbarella in ’68. He embodied the spirit of the counterculture by challenging conventions and opening the world of fashion to the use of new materials with creative horizons closer to those of contemporary architecture and art than to the rules of well-dressed. To celebrate the maison’s thirtieth anniversary, in 1996, she launched the limited edition (now unobtainable) of a do-it-yourself version of the dress, sold in a suitcase with everything you need and instructions. This year, a few months after the death of its founder, it surprises once again by renaming itself in Rabanne: faster, simpler and more modern. And breaking – it must be said – into the make-up market with a high tech, gender fluid and futuristic line inspired by the glow of metal. Avant-garde and technology are the only two distinguishing features both for the formulations and for the pack inspired by the cult straighteners: «Once again we want to change the rules of the game while remaining faithful to the brand’s DNA: make-up, like clothes, must be futuristic and at the same time sensual and easy to approach. Thus, if the universe Nude manages to bring out the true luminosity of the skin, the eyeshadows Eyephoria they were designed to be used with the fingers,” explains Diane Kendal, Global Beauty Creative Director at Rabanne Beauty.
«We then created products that do not currently exist on the market, such as sprays arts factory inspired by murals with a shimmering and hyperpigmented texture that can be used all over the body, as well as lipsticks Rouge Rabanne».
