His Great Archimandrite Ecumenical PatriarchateAgathangelos Sisko was arrested by the Turkish authorities on Monday, April 17, for the theft of a pocket watch of great value, which had been made for a collector’s collection in the 1800s on behalf of the Palaces.
As reported by “National Herald”, he went to prison from which he was however released with the intervention of the Police Guard of Patriarch Bartholomew. The Patriarch put him on indefinite leave. According to sources from within the Fanario, the Patriarch is terribly troubled and saddened by the incident because the Patriarchate is dragged out since the issue has taken on extensive dimensions in the Turkish Press and on the Internet with the display of a relevant video.
