A tightening of the Green Pass to try to curb the increase in infections in recent weeks. This is the measure that the government is planning to launch to ensure greater security and slow down the advance of Covid, avoiding more drastic tightening such as the one approved in Austria and being evaluated by the Province of Bolzano. The goal, of course, is to avoid new closures by thinking about a reinforced Green Pass which would limit the swab tool to obtain certification. To be discussed by the control room in these hours is a provision limited to recreational activities which then, slowly, could also be extended to the world of work after a confrontation with the political and trade union forces.
The alternative, supported by Confindustria, but also by Pd and Forza Italia, remains one: the vaccination obligation. Prime Minister Mario Draghi, on this last point, seems to have chosen the path of caution, avoiding overbalancing, even if it seems clear that Palazzo Chigi is thinking of intervening.
Meanwhile, next week the control room will definitively evaluate the stiffening of the vaccination passport starting from bars and restaurants, swimming pools and gyms. There are three possibilities: limit the validity of the antigenic buffer to 24 hours, or allow only the molecular one to be used for the Green Pass, or completely exclude tests. The executive plans to entrust the choice to the individual regions, outlining the Green Pass regionali, even if the risk remains that of creating a great confusion even for those who are forced to move frequently.
The most difficult joint to untie, however, is that of world of work. The option of extend the enhanced Green Pass to employees is on the table, although it is believed that the operation could be accompanied by a transition phase that would allow those who are not vaccinated to adapt. The numbers are decisive for this provision: no-vax workers would be between 1.2 and 1.5 million, and this is why we are thinking about either the exclusion of tampons in order to obtain the Green Pass or precisely the obligation to vaccinate. Meanwhile, and this is certain, on Thursday 25 November the executive will launch a broad package of measures, including the reduction of the validity of the Green Pass from twelve to nine months and the obligation of a third dose for healthcare personnel.
