Germany's foreign ministers were in favor of a two-state solution in the Middle East Analena Burbok and the USA Anthony Blinkencalling for safety for residents in both Israel and Gaza.
“I think in the next few months the Israel will have an excellent opportunity to really and permanently close this vicious cycle of violence,” said the US secretary from the Munich Security Conference, noting that there are “several factors” in the region that oppose the two-state solution, which envisions an independent Palestinian state coexisting peacefully with Israel. Mr. Blinker also mentioned that palmost all Arab countries are ready to accept Israel's integration into the region in order to normalize relationswhile at the same time, under the guidance of Arab countries, reforms are being promoted to revitalize and transform the Palestinian Authority so that it can more effectively represent the interests of the Palestinian and be a better partner for Israel in the future.
“It is more urgent than ever to create a Palestinian state that will also guarantee Israel's security and make the necessary commitments to achieve this. This could create an integrated region in which people would truly work together for the common good, a region where Israel will be secure in a way it has never been before,” Mr. Blinken said. “It's difficult, it's complicated, but it's real,” he stressed, warning that the alternative is an endless repetition of the cycle of violence. “It is the duty of all those who have relations with countries in the region and bear responsibility to make this path really clear, realistic and goal-oriented,” he added.
Analena Burbock, for her part, was also in favor of continuing the negotiations. “The greatest harm to those who do not care about human rights and the international order is that we give up and are not willing to look at these various issues from the other side“, he noted and requested that all available channels be used for negotiations: “If we try to resolve this terrible war in the Middle East from our different perspectives, then we can also create security for both the people in Israel and Gaza“, he said.
In response to a question about why Iran's Revolutionary Guards are not on Germany's list of terrorist organizations, Ms. Burbock said that this is related to the fact that “there is no evidence of direct involvement in terrorist attacks abroad” and stressed that a “legal basis” is necessary.
