The “Ecumenical character” of the Greek language is officially accepted by UNESCO

The UNESCO Executive Council unanimously proposed the proclamation of 9 February as a World Day of Greek Language, recognizing the timelessness of our language, its contribution to science and culture and its widespread use thanks to the Greek diaspora. The final decision is expected to be taken at the 43rd UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand.
