The driver of the SUV wanted by the police surrendered North Carolina since on Sunday night he had lured six migrant workers to Walmart parking lot in Lincolnton and had subsequently fled.
David Gonzalez, of Hickory, North Carolina, turned himself in to the Lincoln Police Department, where he went accompanied by members of his family, reports the local police department. Relatives of Gonzalez, who was released on $50,000 bail, told officers he told them he got his foot stuck in the gas pedal while trying to park.
Earlier today, the police had announced that they were looking for the driver of the SUV, estimating that he may have deliberately led the workers astray. The six migrants were taken to a hospital with injuries, but their condition does not inspire concern.
