The Cypriot EEZ is Abdulhamit Khan’s second station

The second trip of the new Turkish drilling rig, Abdulhamit Khan, will, according to information, be in the Cypriot EEZ, specifically at the border of sea blocks 6 and 7 in their northern part.

The information leads Ankara to have data, according to which there are natural gas deposits in this area. The same information states that ErdoÄŸan’s plan at this stage is on the one hand to expand by implementing the… vision of the “Blue Homeland” and at the same time for the drilling to have results. Although in the past the main objective was the demonstration of force and enforcement, now the issue of locating and exploiting natural gas has also entered the picture.

Therefore, it is obvious that now in the big picture of the Turkish plans, the drilling rigs are “working” to locate deposits and this is done based on a road map, which is determined by the results of the seismic surveys that have been done in the past. Therefore, it is clear that when Erdogan mentions that Turkey will become an energy hub, he means it. And this means that he is also looking for “his” natural gas. It should be noted that the Turkish President recently referred to the fact that by 2023 Turkey will have found natural gas and oil. The reference to 2023 is not accidental, it is a year of elections and big celebrations for the 100 years of the Turkish state.

For Ankara, there is already a given: Natural gas has been discovered in the Black Sea region, and apparently the efforts will continue. He did not, however, mean this region when Erdogan spoke, but that of the Eastern Mediterranean.
