“The Color Purple”: cast sings and dances in new trailer

With little to go until its debut in Brazilian cinemas, “The Color Purple” received a new trailer this Wednesday (3), released by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The new feature is a musical version adapted from the film released in 1986. In the trailer, the cast sings and dances a preview of the songs to come (watch below).

The plot follows Celie, an African-American woman who lives in the southern United States at the beginning of the 20th century. She tries to overcome the trauma left by her father and husband's abuse over the years and, to do so, she will count on the support and strength of a group of women who build a sisterhood.

Oprah Winfrey is a producer of the new film along with Steven Spielberg, who directed the original 1985 film. The production is based on the book of the same name by Alice Walker, released in 1982.

The cast includes actors Halle Bailey, Taraji P. Henson, Taraji P. Henson, Colman Domingo.

The musical hits Brazilian cinemas on February 8, 2024.
