Even UAZ has a Patriot version in this body format.

And he also has different nameplates, one in front and on the sides, but others in the back and on the steering wheel. No no, this is not a minus, just a fact!


Since I have a pickup truck here, here’s information about the possibility of its load: 975 kilograms plus a trailer of 2250 or 750 kilograms, depending on the presence of brakes. So if you need Poer for business, the information will come in handy. And so, I suspect, you will buy a kung for him, or at least a body cover. And then after all, things with an open body have to be stored in the cabin. Well, since we are talking about him, climbed!

The second row door is not very large, but it opens quite wide, so there will be no problems with getting in and out. Footboard available. Inside it is very spacious, the ceiling is high, there is a lot of space, including at the feet. And everything seems to be the same as in all cars, but there are several “hardships”: there is no light bulb on the ceiling (it is in front), there is no heating by the sofa and there is no armrest in the center. So it goes. But two deflectors and one classic USB. Poor? It is possible to say so. But spacious and good visibility, as well as handles on the ceiling and in the racks. Since every technical small thing, like a jack, needs to be stored somewhere, the back of the sofa reclines at Poer, and the lower part also rises. There is plenty of space in general, but the backpack cannot be hidden.






Even more spacious up front! It is worth noting that the interior is not particularly huge in width, the whole car is a little less than two meters. Both driver and passenger have power seat adjustment. The driver also has height. The armrest is adjustable for reach, but it’s not really fixed and, often, over time, leaves for the farthest position. And yet, if you push it, it will block the cup holders. By the way, they are different in depth. There is a very small compartment in the armrest, and an organizer in the lid, on the reverse side. Nearby is a convenient cradle for a smartphone.





Next … gloss. Around washer modes and on multimedia. What for? Fashion. The gear knob is essentially an electronic joystick. Near the downshift button (via neutral), mode selector (Normal, Eco, Sport) and electronic parking brake control. Everything. All-wheel drive there will decide for itself what and how. You can also lock the rear differential, forcibly turn on the view from the cameras, of which there are four (yes, there is a 360 ° view), turn off stabilization and turn on the hill descent assistant. And also a sound volume knob, this is a nice rudiment! But there is no mute button at all. That’s all.

Multimedia uncomplicated, nine-inch screen. In general, everything you need is available, although there are not so many parameters and you won’t be able to make any fine adjustments to the car for yourself. But you can twist the sound of the speaker system, although it will remain not super-detailed and catchy. And if you use CarPlay and Android Auto, then I will please you, both systems are in place. There are a few more settings for the visual style, I simply settled on the version that fits better into the interior of the car.














The tidy here is as classic as possible, pointer instruments, a small on-board computer screen … well, all the necessary data, each block of information on its own menu page.

The steering wheel is large, the grip is comfortable, but there is no adjustment for reach! But the buttons are convenient and clear, thanks here. Levers behind the wheel are also classic. There are also paddles for manual gear shifting … the manufacturer claims that they can come in handy on off-road. Or have you thought about sports ambitions?!






What is the result? It seems that the equipment is not bad, but here and there something is missing. In the maximum configuration, I also want adaptive cruise control, front parking sensors and blind spot monitoring, at least. Someone else will remember about wireless charging. But alas. In general, Poer is simple and this is its plus. He does not flirt with fashion in any way (except for gloss, of course), on which I will conclude about decoration and technology.






Let’s hit the road
And the further from the road, the more interesting
Yes, on such a car, first of all, I want to leave the halls of asphalt pavement. Which is logical, in a car with a frame, all-wheel drive and a low gear. Only now, winter studded tires on wet ground lose their grip, which I have seen a couple of times. Fortunately, without searching for a tractor and similar adventures. GWM Poer went out by himself every time!
In general, I want to admit that I like to ride frame cars. There is no special drive on the pavement. This Chinese hard worker also has an electric steering wheel, boring as hell. But he rushes outside the asphalt and on a bad surface cheerfully and with enthusiasm. And you sit like in a boat on the waves and sway. In general, there is a charm!

The enthusiasm here is also due to the diesel unit. Two liters is not an object of dreams for those who remember American V8 pickups, but it does its job and 400 Nm of thrust is very appropriate here. Profitability, by the way, is also decent, on the highway only 7.6 liters per hundred. But still it is worth recognizing that the turbine would not hurt this diesel engine. Yes, and there is a decent delay in pressing the gas pedal, even in sport mode, but this is a matter of habit. You will have to tune in to a measured ride, which, in general, Poer contributes to. The main gripe is more to the cruise control. When activated, it seems to press the “slipper on the floor”, and this cannot be configured in any way.

I praise the work of the eight-speed gearbox from ZF. There are no complaints at all. Switches imperceptibly and does not tupit. If you work gently with the accelerator, it rarely takes the speed over 1.5 thousand.
As for off-road talent, the main obstacle here is city tires on a car from the company’s press park. I did not want to take risks and climb into difficult places, given the autumn weather. I had a couple of moments when, without a downshift, the car no longer wanted to go anywhere, but it helped out every time. In general, measure the skill, equipment of the car and the road!

But every time I sit in such a big car, I feel safe and calm. So I can understand fans of healthy cars. The main thing is to get used to its dimensions, but here the cameras help out. But there were no annoying moments. Even Shumka worthy!

Enhanced comfort pickup
I thought to write increased, but no. For such a gradation here and there something is missing. Will it be added in future updates? Most likely. In the meantime, this hard worker with the possibility of comfortable operation every day. If you are inexorably drawn to pickups, then at least sign up for a test drive, check it out for yourself.
I, in the absence of a kung, suffered a little from the fact that there was nowhere to hide things (a backpack with equipment, for example), although any small things can be thrown over the back of the sofa or under it.

And by installing decent off-road tires, you can safely increase the geography of travel and also invite people with you. Space in the cabin for five is more than enough!
And here’s the thing, for me a pickup truck, like a body format, is a useless thing. But every time he comes to me for a test, then I don’t want to say goodbye – a paradox. That’s their magic, isn’t it?
