US General Mark Miley, Chief of the General Staff of the US Armed Forces, spoke today Thursday with the Chinese Chief of the General Staff of the Chinese Armed Forces, General Li Chuosheng, the Pentagon announced.
“General Miley discussed the need to responsibly manage competition and maintain open lines of communication,” Miley’s spokesman said.
“General Miley emphasized the importance of engaging the People’s Liberation Army in meaningful dialogue to improve crisis communications and mitigate strategic risks. The telephone conversation also saw a productive discussion on a number of regional and international issues in the security sector,” the statement said.
