The authors of Hogwarts Legacy spoke about the non-linearity of the plot: it will be possible to accept the dark side or reject it

As part of Gamescom 2022, Warner Bros. Games and Avalanche Software have officially unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming video game Hogwarts Legacy, talking about the mechanics of side quests that will appear in the gamer depending on his choice during the passage of the storyline. During a short presentation, representatives of the development studio stated that if a gamer, for example, decides to make friends with student Sebastian Sallow of the Slytherin faculty, then at some point in the story the player will have to make a moral choice – to accept or reject the “Dark Arts”.

And the developers in the video itself showed what would happen if a gamer, in the process of revealing the secret of Sebastian’s family, agreed to study dark magic. For example, the trailer told about forbidden spells, for the use of which on intelligent beings, the wizard will immediately go to Azkaban. However, this will not prevent Sebastian from using a forbidden spell on the player’s character, after which very intense battles with some skeletons that have risen from the dead flashed through the frame. At this point, the game has strongly deviated from the canons of “Harry Potter”, but, apparently, there will be many such discrepancies with the original. And the side quests themselves, the occurrence of which depends on the choice of the player, promise a lot.

The developers also showed battles between the wizards themselves, the use of defensive and attacking spells, a troll fighting skeletons, and a fairly well-developed secondary character. Even in the presented video, you can see several extremely curious locations, about which so far there is no detailed information. Perhaps the same snake engraved door has never been mentioned in the movies or books before, so gamers will have something to look at. And, best of all, in a press release immediately after the publication of the video, representatives of Avalanche Software officially talked about pre-order bonuses. The base version of Hogwarts Legacy will be available on PC for $60 (on next-gen consoles for $70), while the more expensive Deluxe Edition for $80 will give you access to the game 72 hours ahead of the rest of the world. Additionally, gamers will receive a variety of cosmetic items for their wardrobe, a flying pet, and access to the Dark Arts Battle arena.

Hogwarts Legacy will release on February 10, 2023.
