OneCoin crypto scam victim Jennifer McAdam has spoken out about anonymous death threats over her book The Devil’s Coin. This is reported The Times.
The fraudulent scheme, founded by Bulgarian citizen Ruja Ignatova together with Sebastian Greenwood, operated from 2014 to 2016. The OneCoin project was positioned as a highly profitable cryptocurrency, in which investors profited not only from the growth of the asset, but also for attracting new participants.
The Devil’s Coin tells how McAdam fell for the tricks of the scammers and subsequently fought them.
The writer shared that she personally lost about £9,000 due to this scheme and convinced loved ones to invest about £220,000 in OneCoin.
She was supposed to hold an autograph session and a presentation of her book in Ireland, but amid threats she canceled the event.
In November 2019, the Southern District of New York court found OneCoin lawyer Mark Scott guilty of laundering nearly $400 million.
In the spring of 2020, Konstantin Ignatov, the brother of the founder of the pyramid, was detained at the Los Angeles airport. He subsequently pleaded guilty to several counts.
In February 2023, journalists reported the murder of Ignatova, who was on the lists of the most wanted criminals by Europol and the FBI.
Later, the US Federal Prosecutor’s Office charged the former head of the legal department and compliance of OneCoin, Irina Dilkinskaya, with fraud and conspiracy to launder funds. She faces up to 40 years in prison.
