The US Senate today ratified the appointment of experienced diplomat Denise Campbell Bauer as US Ambassador to France.
President Joe Biden had appointed her in July, but in the early hours of the weekend there was a majority in the upper house of Congress to ratify the position of diplomat and advocate for the position of women in politics.
Announcing her appointment, the White House had highlighted her “crisis management skills” and her “reputation as a manager who believes in cooperation.”
Campbell Bauer, 57, headed the US embassy in Brussels between 2013 and 2017. She was previously a member of the Democratic Party administration, taking part in Barack Obama’s two US presidential campaigns.
When he returned to the United States after the victory of Republican Donald Trump, he became involved in politics again in 2019, participating in the election campaign of Joe Biden. He mainly supported women who were starting their first election campaign.
Denise Campbell Bauer, who speaks fluent French, will also be the US ambassador to Monaco.
