Extremely optimistic messages regarding the tourist traffic of the period emerge from the data of the use of the Uber application in Greece. Noting that almost two out of three users who visit Greece open their app, most of them when they land in our country, this year’s data compared to those of the pre-pandemic period are impressive.
According to them for the month of May, the following emerges:
This year, compared to May 2019
• users from abroad who visited Greece and opened the application increased by 152%
• users from abroad who used the platform to secure a route increased by 185%
• users from abroad who used the app to get to and from the airport increased by 172%
According to the same data, compared to May 2019, this year in the same month, there was a significant increase in the number of visitors who used the Uber application from the United Kingdom (+ 28%) and France (+ 36%).
Sarita Varouch, General Manager of UBER Greece said “We are expecting a very strong season this year. The tourist traffic in May has already reached the levels of last July, which is traditionally the month with the most tourist traffic for Athens. It is important to note that the numbers we are already seeing are up by about 180% compared to 2019. ”
Today, Uber provides through its platform the Uber Taxi service in Athens, Thessaloniki, Santorini and Mykonos. Passengers ensure the movement they want in a simple and useful way, entering their destination and choosing a taxi. They can check the estimated time of arrival of the taxi, the registration number, the model of the vehicle and the necessary information for the driver. Drivers, on the other hand, can access the app and start receiving one-button requests from any of the 118 million active Uber users worldwide who visit Greece.
