The Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC) has issued a warning to all operating cryptocurrency exchanges that advertising cryptocurrency investments that violate local laws is unacceptable.

Deputy Secretary General of the commission Anek Yooyuen said that the regulator is concerned: crypto exchanges offer special privileges to registered users. Advertising cannot contain information that misleads customers; all advertisements or promotions must contain appropriate warnings about investment risks, the official insists.

The SEC warned that if violations are detected on the part of trading platforms, punishment will follow in accordance with the law.

Earlier, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand announced that it intends to block cryptocurrency platforms that are not authorized to operate in the country to protect users and combat money laundering.
