Text on court orders is not simple, says senator

In an interview with CNN, senator José Aníbal (PSDB-SP) stated that the text of the PEC dos Precatório approved in the Chamber of Deputies is not “simple”. Therefore, he, together with senators Alessandro Vieira (Cidadania-SE) and Oriovisto Guimarães (Podemos-PR) presented an alternative proposal to the rapporteur, Fernando Bezerra Coelho (MDB-PE).

“It’s a text [da Câmara] that they made it full of exceptionalities and that we were not able to assess exactly what the focus was”, said Aníbal.

The alternative text completely removes the precatório from the spending ceiling, in a total of R$ 89 billion. In addition, Auxílio Brasil, the successor social program to Bolsa Família, would reach 21 million families.

“There is nothing that impacts our three main objectives: guaranteeing emergency aid, not breaking the spending ceiling – not changing the ceiling rule, as they are trying to do in the Chamber PEC – and not defaulting on court orders,” said Aníbal .

“We want to resolve the issue of urgent emergency assistance. There are millions of Brazilians who are in poverty and starving.”
