Texas elementary school shooting leaves 15 dead, hospital says

A suspect is in custody after a shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, left at least two dead and injured 14 people, including students, officials said.

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (UCISD) posted about an “active shooter” at Robb Elementary at 12:17 pm local time and said police were on the scene.

The suspect was detained at 1:06 pm local time, according to the Uvalde Police Department.

Two people died after the shooting at Robb Elementary School, a spokesperson for Uvalde Memorial Hospital told CNN .

The hospital welcomed 13 children into its facility who were being treated for various injuries, they said. Two children have been transported to San Antonio and another is awaiting a transfer, said Tom Nordwick.

In addition, two patients were already dead on arrival, Nordwick explained. He could not confirm the ages of the two deceased. A 40-year-old man was also being treated, he said.
