The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone call today with his American counterpart Joe Biden during which the two leaders discussed the situation on his front war in Ukraine.
Zelensky expressed to Biden the hope that the US Congress will make a “wise decision” to approve a new aid package to Kiev.
“We discussed the current situation on the front lines. I am grateful that I can count on the full support of President Biden,” Zelensky wrote in X. “I also believe that the US Congress will make a wise decision.”
In the White House announcement of the communication between the two leaders, it is stated that Biden stressed to Zelensky that the US is committed to supporting Ukraine's fight against the Russian invasion.
The Joe Biden administration has been trying for months in vain to get Congress to pass a new $60 billion aid package to Ukraine – but Republicans are blocking it.
