Twelve players on the Tufts University lacrosse team have been diagnosed with a rare muscle injury after participating in a voluntary, supervised 45-minute team practice, a university spokesman said Friday. Five of the players diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis remained hospitalized Friday, according to Patrick Collins, the school’s director of public relations. Monday’s training was led by a university graduate who had completed Navy SEAL training. Rhabdomyolysis is a rare muscle injury where a person’s muscles are destroyed, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
